Alberta Holds First Aviation and General Priority Sector Draws of 2026

Alberta has issued 476 invitations to apply for provincial nomination. They came from four Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) draws held between September 24 and October 7, 2026. These draws included the province’s first aviation and general priority sector draws of the year.

Under the Alberta Express Entry Stream, 200 candidates were invited through the Priority Sectors (General) pathway on September 29, with a minimum score of 64. On October 7, another 22 candidates with experience in aviation were invited, with a minimum score of 56.

Workers with job offers in rural Alberta were also selected. On September 24, 131 candidates were invited under the Rural Renewal Stream, which needed a minimum score of 51. Another 123 invitations went to candidates in the Alberta Opportunity Stream on October 2, with a minimum score of 54.

After receiving an invitation, candidates can apply for provincial nomination. Nominees can then apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residence. Those already working in Canada may be eligible for a Bridging Open Work Permit while their application is processed.

Alberta has issued 5,541 nominations so far in 2026, about 84% of its 6,603 annual allocation. With most spaces already filled, candidates working in Alberta may want to keep their profiles up to date ahead of future draws.
