Canada Immigration News - January 2026 Express Entry Draw Sees 6,000 Invitations under CEC

In the Express Entry draw conducted on January 21 under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), 6,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) have been issued. The minimum cut-off score for the draw was 509, the lowest score of the recent months, and candidates should have created their profile before October 29, 2025, at 04:35:24 UTC. This selection reinforces the fact that the PR priority in Canada is for temporary residents and foreign workers with Canadian work experience and language proficiency who are already contributing to the economy of the country.

If the trend of issuing large ITAs continues, then the CRS cut-off score is expected to further go down in the next draws. On January 7, 8000 ITAs were issued under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw.

If you have received an ITA, then you must submit a complete electronic Application for Permanent Residence (eAPR). You must note that ITA is valid only for 60 days, hence, starting early is important. You must collect and keep your documents, such as passport, proof of language proficiency, proof of work experience, education documents, police certificates, photos, etc., ready. You must make sure that you submit all documents and that there are no errors in them. Inconsistent data and details regarding the work experience, responsibilities, profile, and the mismatch between the given documents and profile are often the reason for refusals, inadmissibility, and even 5-year bar from applying.

While the date for the next draw is not announced, you must prepare in advance by updating your profile and keeping all the documents ready. You never know when the draw will be favourable for you, and you might receive an ITA in the next one.
