Alberta has got 200 additional provincial nomination spaces for 2026 from the federal government. This has increased the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) allocation from 6,403 to 6,603 nominations. The increase will allow more eligible workers to be considered for permanent residence in the province. The additional spaces have been redistributed across several AAIP streams.
The Alberta Opportunity Stream received the largest increase, with 137 additional nominations, while the Rural Renewal Stream gained 57. Healthcare, technology and priority-sector pathways also received additional spaces. In contrast, allocations for the law enforcement and entrepreneur streams were reduced. As of July 30, Alberta had issued 3,892 nominations, leaving 2,711 spaces from the revised allocation. However, demand remains high, with 36,948 Worker Expressions of Interest in the AAIP inventory.
