Provincial Nominee Program
Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
Canadian Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) are an ideal pathway for Canada immigration if you belong to any of the following categories:
- If you are currently working with a valid work permit in Canada.
- If you have an expression of interest application already submitted to the Express Entry pool and meet the eligibility criteria for a PNP program. The Express Entry-aligned streams and categories of PNPs select candidates from the federal Express Entry pool based on their qualifications and the demands of the respective province’s labour market.
- If you have some connection to the province, like previous study or work experience or if you have a formal job offer from an employer belonging to the province.
- If you have a family member residing in the province.
But that alone is not what makes you eligible for the PNP. You will also have to meet other specific requirements.
Express Entry-aligned PNPs
If you are applying to a PNP category or stream which is aligned to the federal Express Entry, you will have to have a valid Express Entry profile. A major benefit of applying to an Express Entry-aligned PNP stream or category is that you have more than one chance of obtaining a PR in Canada. You may be considered under the Federal Skilled Worker program, PNPs, the Canadian Experience Class program and even the Federal Skilled Trades program. While applying for PNPs, you shall keep in mind that all PNPs lead to permanent residence in Canada. Once you become a permanent resident, you can live or work anywhere in Canada.
