Alberta has continued its targeted immigration strategy by inviting workers in the agriculture and construction sectors to apply for provincial nomination through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). The province conducted two draws on July 16 and July 21, 2026, issuing a combined total of 82 invitations under the Alberta Express Entry Stream’s Priority Sector pathways.
The construction draw issued 53 invitations with a minimum score of 65, while the agriculture draw invited 29 candidates with a minimum score of 56. Both cut-off scores were the highest recorded for their respective priority-sector draw types in 2026.
So far this year, Alberta has conducted five targeted construction draws and four agriculture draws, which indicates the province’s focus on addressing labor shortages in priority sectors. As of July 30, the AAIP had invited at least 10,828 candidates to apply for provincial nomination.
Alberta received 6,403 nomination spaces for 2026 and had issued 3,892 nominations by July 30. The province has also recently received 200 additional nomination spaces, increasing the province’s 2026 allocation to 6,603.
The latest developments reinforce Alberta’s priority on attracting skilled workers who can contribute to key sectors of its economy.
