Canada is keeping temporary immigration and travel measures in place as authorities continue responding to the Ebola outbreak. The restrictions, which were previously scheduled to end on August 29, have now been extended until September 28, 2026.
Under the extended measures, foreign nationals who have travelled to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) within the previous 21 days remain prohibited from entering Canada. Immigration documents also remain suspended for residents of the DRC, Uganda and South Sudan, preventing affected individuals from travelling to Canada using those documents.
Canadian citizens and permanent residents are still permitted to return if they have recently been in affected areas, but must undergo health screening on arrival. Depending on their health status, they may face a 21-day quarantine or medical isolation. The Public Health Agency of Canada announced the extension on August 28.
